Incredible principles of living in THE NEW NORMAL

Ever thought of life as a couple of stages with changes?

At a young age, change is rarely evident in our life cycle until a time when the reality of life presents itself and requires one to adapt to new environs like attending school, performing home chores, and taking responsibility for the future.

Well, change is the order of life and probably the main theme when we analyze it literally. A staircase is an ideal model of stages of life that comes with an added effort for each and step.

Myles Munroe in his book ‘Seasons of Change’ defines change as the only reality in the universe. Nothing is constant in life except change which often occurs both unexpectedly and sometimes it's actually predictable. The main effect of the change is to pose new challenges and levels of persistence which presents an added value to the subject. When the effect of change transforms an individual for the better, that is a fulfillment of God’s purpose.

A popular saying, ‘if you can’t beat them join them’ is a revelation of how little we can change fate but can control how to react towards it. Figuratively, a river flows from one direction to another and no such a time can it change its direction of flow. As it flows from the highlands through numerous thick vegetation to its destination be it another river or a large water body, it swipes with it many materials be it logs of trees, soil, and even some aquatic life.

Funny enough, fish doesn’t go with the flow but swims upstream. In this context, its crystal clear that the fish adapts to the new normal by moving in a particular direction like much of its surroundings do. Ideally, we all have a choice to make when faced by certain adversities in our daily life.

In the real world, things are not much different and as we grow older, the choices we make when a change occurs seem more accurate and beneficial.

A young man named Jeff who is a scholar at some college is summoned by the college administration about his fees arrears. his parents are church mice and having weighed out all possible options, he is given some time off classes to clear up his debt. Full of despair, the young man leaves for home. On his way, he comes across a job advert and decides to apply for it. The job is not well paying and he decides to extend the working hours by securing another one. In this case, he can pocket a reasonable amount of cash. within two weeks, he has accumulated more than the required amount for fees. He finally gets back to his studies having paid all the fees and financially stable through a part-time job.

Our decisions determine our fate making it crucial to take a moment before making one.

We are always one decision away from a completely different life. For Jeff’s case, he didn’t dwell on the impact of change but worked to impact the change itself. Like Jeff, we all have the freedom to choose whether to change our situations or let situations change our living.

Jeff’s case study pinpoints valuable lessons you can apply to live a drastically amazing life:

  1. 1). Your life is your responsibility.

No one can live life on your behalf to fulfill all those dreams and visions crisscrossing in your mind. It’s your ultimate responsibility to make that dream happen. Wake up each day with the notion of you are always accountable for your choices in life and work to nurture a dream until it finally comes to birth. Jeff took the duty of paying the college fees because he realized that it was his life he was modeling.

  1. 2)    Grass is greener beyond fear.

Like many of you would have done, Jeff didn’t call home to ask for money to clear his fees but became conversant with the situation and decided to take action. He overcame the fear of a new world of working to make his academics dream come true. Moreover, he created a steady and reliable financial status.

  1. 3)      Flexibility creates growth.

Life isn’t a steady path of even acceleration but has its ups and downs. Many are the times we dwell on one failure rather than focusing ahead on our goals. When we encounter challenging situations that need our attention, our minds learn something new and never regains its initial volume. The more flexible we are in our daily life, the learning becomes inevitable and life interesting.

In life, situations and phases of change occur every second. When you are pushed out of your comfort zone and forced to react in life, that becomes your new normal. Therefore, despite what you are encountering in your world, be flexible and you will see yourself grow out of it to a new satisfaction.

Live a life worth remembering.
